We’re very proud to have worked with Gilimbaa recently on a branded paper cups project. We were in awe of the design they came up with and wanted to share more about them and how they were using the cups.
Gilimbaa is an Indigenous creative agency specialising in culturally effective and appropriate communication strategies and design for the government, non-profit and corporate sectors. Katherine Ogg – Designer/Project Manager at Gilimbaa – was able to share more with us around what this unique agency does and how they used the cups.
“We recently attended an event called ‘Supply Connect’ – it is an inaugural expo held to promote and network Indigenous owned businesses across Australia.
Gilimbaa has been a mainstay at the expo over many years and each time we endeavour to create a new marketing strategy to extend the reach of our creative agency. In 2016, we wanted to delineate from the standard expo tote bag and printed collateral, we wanted to give the visitors to our stand an experience based on our 2016 theme “Connect Reflect Grow”. We designed an engaging promotional piece which consisted of two paper cups printed with an original indigenous artwork, two Gilimbaa branded Lemon Myrtle tea bags, two individually wrapped biscuits, a folded business card listing our services and a Gilimbaa lapel pin.
The intention of the promo pieces was for visitors to connect by sharing a story and grow relationships over a cup of tea.
The concept proved very successful and the distinctly design cups were seen throughout the expo and later on in clients’ offices.
The remaining cups have been utilised at events, meetings and yarning circles in our Brisbane Studio. We would highly recommend MyPaperCups to other design agencies and we are eagerly planning a new artwork for the next round of cups.”
Gilimbaa were fantastic to work with. We work with creative agencies every day and we’d certainly recommend Gilimbaa to anyone looking for help with an Indigenous based campaign. Their passion and understanding of their work was exceptional.
